Safety and Ethical Practice

Doing a World of Good Through Safety and Ethical Practice

As chemical engineers, we are dedicated to the safe and responsible practice of our profession.

Chemical engineering more than any other, may be called the engineering of the future. It is the result of an evolution in which most of the other branches have played a part... The chemical engineer stands today on the threshold of a vast virgin realm; in it lie the secrets of life and prosperity for mankind in the future of the world.  — John Hays Hammond

The Undergraduate Process Safety Learning Initiative (UPSLI) is a significant global effort and a key program aimed at enhancing process safety education to better prepare graduates for the workforce and educate faculty using real-life examples.

Now we’re launching a program designed to support two year colleges that prepare the technicians and plant operators.

By promoting and advancing global standards, we strive to reduce incidents and accidents, making the world a safer and more livable place for everyone.

Over the past decade, your gift engineered impact:

  • 881 universities participating in Undergraduate Process Safety Learning Initiative (UPSLI) curriculum
  • 1029 new faculty members were trained in process safety at industry-led workshops
  • 103,590 students earned SAChE certifications since launch in 2015

You can engineer impact by contributing today.  When chemical engineers give, possibilities become impact.
