The L.S. Fan Award Endowment

In recognition of Dr. Liang-Shih (L.S.) Fan’s groundbreaking contributions to particle technology and fundamental chemical engineering, AIChE has established the L.S. Fan Award for Advancing Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering.

This new Institute-level award will honor individuals whose work has significantly advanced foundational areas of chemical engineering, including particle science, multiphase systems, and reaction engineering. The inaugural award will be presented at the 2026 AIChE Annual Meeting.

To ensure the success of this important recognition, we’ve launched a campaign to fully endow the L.S. Fan Award, led by Dr. Ah-Hyung “Alissa” Park, the Ronald and Valerie Sugar Dean of the School of Engineering and Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, and Dr. Bing Du, the Technology Development Lead at ExxonMobil, in collaboration with the AIChE Foundation.

Your gift will help celebrate Dr. Fan’s lasting legacy and inspire future innovations in chemical engineering.

All donors will be recognized as Founding Donors of the L.S. Fan Award Endowment.
