Summer School Endowment: Nearing 33% of the Way to $1 Million
We are almost one third of the way to our $1 million goal thanks to a number of generous individual donors and the fiscal stewardship of the previous volunteer organizing committees and groups like CAChE." – Matthew Liberatore
For nearly a century, the Summer School for Chemical Engineering Faculty has served as a launchpad for early-career faculty—preparing them with the tools to inspire students, build impactful curricula, and cultivate professional connections.
In 2022, an endowment was launched to ensure this vital program thrives for the next 100 years and beyond. With an ambitious $1 million goal, the endowment is designed to sustain Summer School in perpetuity—preserving its impact for generations to come.
“I am one of many chemical engineering professors who gained lifelong friends from attending Summer School as an early career faculty member,” said Matt Liberatore, Summer School Endowment Committee Chair.
Now, as the AIChE Foundation celebrates 10 Years of Doing a World of Good, the Summer School campaign has reached an exciting milestone. A generous $118,000 contribution from CACHE (Computer Aids for Chemical Engineering) has propelled the endowment to nearly one-third of its goal. This meaningful gift combines unspent funds from several previous Summer Schools—made possible thanks to the extraordinary commitment of volunteers who managed much of the planning and execution. The contribution was shepherded by Matthew Liberatore, Chair of the Summer School Endowment Committee and CACHE Trustee, and Ed Maginn, CACHE Executive Director, whose leadership helped align this funding with the endowment’s long-term vision.
A co-branded initiative of AIChE’s Education Division and ASEE’s Chemical Engineering Division, Summer School has become a transformative experience—advancing faculty development, student success, and the chemical engineering profession itself.
Please consider celebrating this recent investment in early-career faculty and joining in 10 Years of Impact with a gift to Summer School. Your support will help ensure that future faculty are empowered to educate and inspire the next generation of chemical engineers.
